There has been much to blog about but little time to do it. Since late Saturday night we have all been embroiled in Country Fair madness. Throw in the first full day of rain on Monday, and you have some intense days (or is it daze?). I'll do some summarizing with a few photos, and hopefully we'll get caught up at lunch. Sunday breakfast and lunch were standard fare: scrambled eggs and toast, and cold cuts. Then, enter the madness.
(A quick note on why the kitchen, too, has been consumed by Country Fair. Many moons ago the food at Camp Billings had its faults and we'll leave it at that. With Country Fair, however, there was a push to goad the cooks into raising the bar at least a little bit. The kids were running around non-stop and needed sustenance that matched their competitive fervor. So a little tradition was started of amping up the food. In my tenure, however, it has posed a slight challenge to amp up already amped up food. But, in the spirit of a plaque that hangs in the dining hall: anything worth doing is worth doing well)
